The Many Health Benefits of CBD Oil

The world’s changing and so are people’s attitudes towards the wonder drug, cannabis.

For years people saw cannabis as the drug for the lazy and downtrodden – for those who had no purpose in life and just wanted an easy way out.

But after years of research, and countless legal battles. Cannabis has a new public image – one that shows it in a positive light. We now know that cannabis has a plethora of medical benefits, and you can find adverts for CBD products in any high street or online health store.

CBD is the non-psychoactive element of cannabis, which means you won’t get “stoned” by taking it. But, it still contains all the vital health benefits that any original cannabis plant has, and many suppliers have taken advantages of this. Platforms such as Canna Website for instance, has a wide variety of CBD products with CBD Oil in them, from gummies, to oils to vape cartridges.

One of the key benefits of CBD is that you can take it in several ways, other than having to smoke it!

Health Benefits of CBD Oil

Below are a few of the essential health benefits of CBD Oil.

Pain Relief

The main reason people take CBD oil is for pain relief. The use of cannabis for pain relief isn’t a recent discovery. Anthropologists have found evidence to suggest that it has been going on for over 5000 years. The body has a system known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which regulates sleep, hunger, stress, etc.

When you ingest CBD, it impacts your ECS receptors and decreases inflammation, and reduces pain. A recent article published by healthline.com showed that CBD is excellent for treating pains brought on by illnesses such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis typically affects the elderly, who are the age group who are traditionally most against the use of cannabis. So, the introduction of CBD oil as pain relief is slow but is showing positive results.

Depression and Anxiety

The second most common use of CBD oil is to alleviate anxiety and depression. With more and more money being put into mental health research, we are beginning to see the devastating effects of depression.

Depression commonly leads to drug abuse, violence, and suicide. Suicide being the biggest killer of men under the age of 45.

The introduction of CBD oil in combatting depression and anxiety is revolutionary considering how benzodiazepines have been used in the past. Benzodiazepines are great in the short term but can have catastrophic long-term effects, causing addiction and substance abuse.

People who have insomnia are now taking CBD to help them sleep. Insomnia is often brought on by anxiety and worry, which causes more worry and anxiety – ad infinitum. CBD allows the mind to rest, shut down, and enter a sleep state.

Historically, many people have used alcohol to help sleep, but research shows that unlike CBD, alcohol reduces your sleep quality and makes it harder to get the recommended 8 hours per night.

CBD oil has also been shown to positively affect children who suffer from depression and anxiety without adverse effects. However, children should not consume any cannabis products that contain THC.

Treating Addiction

Contrary to historical opinions of cannabis, CBD can be used to treat addiction. A recent article published by https://www.news-medical.net/health/CBD-Oil-Health-Benefits-and-Risks.aspx showed that CBD oil is now being administered to help prevent drug and alcohol abuse. It does so by suppressing the triggers that are responsible for cravings.

Many people also take CBD oil when trying to quit smoking as it can help reduce the desire to light up. However, smoking CBD is not advised if you are trying to stop cigarettes for obvious reasons.

The medical community is not entirely 100% on the use of CBD for treating addiction, but it’s beginning to show positive signs that CBD could be used in addiction treatment in the future.

Cancer Treatment

It’s still early days, but we already see positive results from using CBD to treat cancer. CBD has shown signs of helping reduce physical symptoms, such as halting tumour growth and combatting the mental trauma that cancer can cause.

An article published by Healthline in 2019 showed that CBD helped slow down tumour growth in pancreatic and bladder cancer patients. However, the medical community is not entirely convinced about CBD’s effects on cancer, so there are still some years to go before we know the full benefits.

However, we can be sure that CBD can have significant psychological effects on cancer patients and help alleviate the mental stress associated with having the disease.

The Future of CBD

CBD has shown some incredibly positive effects thus far, and it seems like we’re only finding out more and more how it can have a significant impact on people’s lives. Now that the stigma surrounding cannabis is starting to alleviate, more and more people are becoming open to seeing what CBD has to offer.

It’s predicted that CBD will overtake many pharmaceutical drugs in the next twenty years, especially those that are prescribed to deal with mental health. Even the US military is beginning to look at CBD to help treat combat soldiers who are dealing with PTSD.

If you had said 50 years ago that the military is looking into cannabis to deal with mental trauma, you would have been laughed at! But that’s where we’re at today. We now know the terrible side effects of benzodiazepines, so it’s great that we now have a safer drug that we can use to help treat mental illness.

Let’s hope the politicians and the lawmakers keep up with the science and we can continue to educate people on everything CBD has to offer!
