5 Unique Ways You Can Decorate Your Loved One's Casket to Honor Their Memory

Coming to terms with loss is difficult as we imagine that we will never be able to see our loved ones again. The funeral procession is perhaps one of the most difficult parts of the grieving and letting go process. In our little way, we will want to honor the memories of those that we love and show our last respects and gratitude for what the relationship we shared with them meant to us.

One way of doing this is through funeral decorations. Through funeral décor, we can be able to not only honor their memory but also create a beautiful environment for funeral attendees to focus solely on mourning and sharing their memories with the deceased too. Their legacy gets to live on in every step of the funeral.

There are usually concerns however on the appropriateness of certain decors especially on the casket of the deceased or what exactly to use in the decoration. Here are some ideas on decors you can use on your beloved casket from Titan Casket during the funeral:

Flowers and candles:

Adding flowers and candles around the casket is a timeless practice that helps with adding just the right feel to the funeral procession. Flowers are the traditional form of decoration and so you can use a wreath with flower arrangements that consist of flowers that were special to the deceased. Candles help to give a sense of serenity, respect, and solemnity to the funeral procession, and using them is a great way to set the mood for the funeral.

Photo Portrait and memorial table:

To help retain the focus of the attendees on the deceased, you can put up a large canvas in a printed frame as a central focus. This photo can be right next to the casket or right in the entryway. Depending on what feels comfortable, you can also choose to use a funny or candid photo or a collection of them to put as decorations on the wall. A memorial table can also be used to put pictures and other special things that they owned.

Reception Table Centerpieces

With reception centerpieces, you can be able to show the personality and life of the deceased better. You can also use additional décor accents such as ribbons, lanterns, and streamers to make it more presentable and pleasant to look at.

Collectibles and hobby portrayal:

You can also choose to decorate the casket with collectibles that they liked to stack on such as crotchet puppets, movie and film paraphernalia, or rare coins. The décor can also be a portrayal of a sport they loved to do, a sport they were a big fan of, or a musical instrument that they were good at playing.

Quirky Themes and costume parties:

Sometimes, the deceased may have had specific requests for how they would like their sendoff to be. It may not be something conventional but it is always better to honor their wishes. It can also be a celebration of life more than a grieving session. Whatever the reason, you can always choose to go with quirky themes like donut themes, NBA themes, and gypsy themes and décor. You can even choose to have people write or decorate the casket.

Whichever way you choose to decorate your casket it should feel genuine and authentic for you in a way that truly honors your loved one. It is a difficult thing to lose the one you love but with some of these sendoff rites, perhaps you may find peace and come to terms with your loss slowly and surely.
