  1. GET SPACEY

Ensuring you have the right amount of space for your dream home office is crucial. Be sure to include a good amount of light pouring in. This will help you focus and feel energized instead of sitting in a dark or gloomy room. Not everyone will be able to designate an entire room to establish their home office but this doesn’t mean that you can’t have your dream office setup. It is all about utilizing the space you already have. Try to make sure that the space you choose for your office is functional, away from most, if not all, distractions, and try to separate your workspace from the rest of your home if you can. The space you choose will ultimately assist you in creating a dream office setup that suits all your working needs but which is also comfortable and practical.

  1. GET SEATED

No matter what type of work you might do, having your home office setup will require you to spend a lot of time sitting down at your desk. Whether it be for an hour a day to eight hours a day, ensuring you have a suitable, comfortable, and quality desk chair is essential. Try to invest in a quality and sturdy desk of office chairs that will not only fit into your dream office setup but will provide you with sufficient support while you sit and crunch down the numbers. It can become very uncomfortable spending hours in front of a computer or brainstorming and making sure you have a great seating companion can certainly add to the vision you have for a comfortable and happy place – in your new office.

  1. GET PERSONAL

Once you have all the practical and functional requirements sorted out in your office; from the space, the layout, and the seating, it’s definitely time to get into the fun part – making it your personal dream office. This can vary from person to person depending on your interests, your hobbies, your interior design style, and taste. For some, having less is more and not cluttered with too many miscellaneous objects is preferred. For others, a considerable amount of plants or stationary, or photos on the wall helps personalize the space.

The great thing about designing or setting up your own dream office is that anything can go. Utilizing the space and size of your office, you could add or install or fix just about anything. Why not add in a mobile golf strip and brainstorm while putting on the green. Or if you need to relieve some stress or even just unwind, add an activity to your dream office like a classic bristle dartboard. Throw some darts while you think or relax and personalize your space to be exactly what you need while you work and even when you are not working.

  1. GET FUNCTIONAL

Lastly, as with any of the abovementioned, it is just as important to ensure your dream office isn’t just comfortable or fun but also functional. This will require you to identify what equipment, electronics, computers, technology, and accessories you would need in your office to ensure you can work efficiently and effectively. For some, having a clean desk with the absolute minimal within reach is ideal. For others, having a vast amount of stationary at their disposal as well as various gadgets like an iPad, docking station, wireless charging ports, multiple monitors, and much more. It will all depend on the nature of your work, the environment in which you flourish as well as what the space you have available can accommodate.

Establishing a dream office or home office can be a lot of fun once you get started and as mentioned above, anything goes. Get creative, be functional and remember; practicality is key. Although, no one is stopping you from adding a few extra or fun touches like your own coffee station, games to unwind with, or even a sound system to blast the music to get you moving and keep you motivated.
