Guidelines for women office wear clothes

Formal Suits: When it comes to dressing for a professional business workplace, suits are always a safe decision. Both pants and skirt suits are permissible. The best suits are well-tailored suits in conservative colors and designs (black, navy blue, and brown).

Pants/Skirts: Women can dress down in casual jeans or skirts. Neither of them should be too tight. Crisp fabrics and color combinations like blue, black, gray, brown, and khaki are always good choices.  Pants should be ironed and tailored for the most professional appearance, neither too tight nor too loose.

Skirt length and slits: When standing, your skirt should reach at least to your knees. Your thighs should be covered while you are seated. A slit to just above the knee can be allowed if your skirt ends just below the knee. Slitting a really long dress up to above the knee is not recommended. Slits that allow you to see your legs are not ideal for business.

Jackets: A business professional’s outfit should always include a jacket. Make sure it’s fitted and comes in a conservative hue or print. If you’re wearing a long-sleeved shirt underneath, the jacket sleeve should fall just over the long sleeve, allowing the shirt sleeve to peep out a little.

Shirts: For a blended look, wear fitted shirts or blouses in cotton or silk. The fit should not be too snug. Cleavage is improper for business interviews, and sweaters should never be worn in a professional environment.

Shoes: Leather, cotton, or microfiber shoes are recommended. Black, blue, brown, tan, and taupe are all appropriate colors (to coordinate with your other attire and accessories). Toes should be covered for the most conservative look. Inappropriate shoes include spike heels, shoes with excessive straps, platform heels, and chunky heels.  However, always make sure your shoes are comfortable to stroll in.
